Are you handicapped? No? THEN MOVE.

handicapped-parking-1478608I got really insanely angry this morning. I attended the sneak peak at my son’s elementary school in Cobb County and was unable to park in any handicap spot. Every single spot was taken. Only one had a legal tag displayed. Every single striped wheelchair loading zone was taken, too. I’ve learned, thanks to a couple Facebook groups, that this is a common problem in many of our Cobb schools and little has been done to address it.

I haven’t had a tag for Connor that long, so while I obviously know this stuff occurs, I was not prepared to see EVERY SINGLE SPOT taken illegally (aside from the one). I complained inside and an announcement was made, but unfortunately the police officer that is there sometimes wasn’t present this morning. Someone who illegally parks in a handicap spot in the first place isn’t going to move because of an announcement, anyway. And when I left, there was a fresh crop of new illegally-parked cars pulling out of those spots as the sneak peak ended.

My son has a handicap placard because his brain has a bunch of benign tumors that have delayed his development, cause seizures, and make him a wobbly walker. And yet, I still only use the spots when I absolutely must. I don’t care that the lot was full this morning and that you didn’t want to park farther away.

I WILL TRADE YOU MY SON’S BRAIN TUMORS AND HIS PARKING SPOT FOR YOUR NORMAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES.

Feel free to keep your asshole gene though.

Next time I will contact the police myself.

You are the reason my four-year-old son fell four times on the way to the car.

My kid fell because of people like you.

Someone else had to carry a 70-pound child to the other side of the car to get to their wheelchair because of people like you.

Someone’s child almost darted in front of car because they don’t understand danger because of people like you.

So get it together, not just Cobb County, but everyone that thinks this is okay.

  1. I don’t see anywhere to email you this, but I saw your blog post from 2013 in which you said this: “I was so frustrated that I started looking into whether there was some sort of governing body to report them to, but just as I did that, lo and behold, our insurance had us switch to the far more competent CVS Caremark mail order pharmacy, so I never pursued it.”

I was curious as to the amount of “care” you are getting from Caremark, because I work there and I hear the same thing albeit in exact reverse. “Accredo never did these kinds of things but now they make us use you, I hope you’re ashamed to work there,” are some of the minor things I’ve been told.

So please, prey tell how that is going for you because I really don’t want to spend any more time searching your blog, because it’s parents like you who can make someone trying to make an honest living mad enough to write about it on some lady’s blog post. This is me in real life, now if you called me I wouldn’t know it but do you know how many times people take this stuff out on the people who can’t even fix it?!!

I’m sorry to hijack your handicap parking post, maybe they just forgot it never bothered me once, but what does bother me is you having a blog post about how bad your experience with express scripts or accredo was and then was switched to Caremark, whom you deemed more competent. Well tell that to the people that like to take their frustration out on people like me, who just get paid $13/hr to hit some keystrokes so your meds go out. You should be ashamed of yourself, being a mommy and all, spreading that crap. Yeah it was from 2-3 years ago but people still read it. Take it down for the sake of people like me, because I bet you won’t tell me where you work, or husband, so I can go complain about the crappy service we ALL get at one point. smh

I’m sorry to hijack your handicap parking post, maybe they just forgot it, never bothered me once, or maybe it would be nice for you to park way at the back sometimes for some fresh air for your son, but what does bother me is you having a blog post about how bad your experience with express scripts or accredo was and then was switched to Caremark, whom you deemed more competent. Well tell that to the people that like to take their frustration out on people like me, who just get paid $13/hr to hit some keystrokes so your meds go out. 3. I’m sorry, but the fact that you need to approve who can post on your blog is straight up wrong, again another reason to be ashamed. You really are mixed up I guess.

  4. I’m very sorry that living my life prevents me from immediately responding to your comments. I don’t get on my blog everyday. Plus, my email and Twitter is also available via the blog. The approval mechanism is to block spam.

To address your issues–every word of my experience is true. Sorry you don’t like it. Caremark has been excellent to me. Yes, you are correct, I have heard from a few families that they have had issues with Caremark. They aren’t perfect. But FOR ME the nightmare ended when I switched. The hours wasted every month stopped. Speaking with people who wouldn’t help me stopped. I’m not saying it’s the fault of the individuals of the phone, but your higher ups have then set you up to fail.

If someone wants to share their experiences about Caremark, they certainly can. I can’t because it’s not mine. And let me tell you the experience I had with Accredo is prevalent enough that a New York Times writer reached out to me because he was looking into it.

By the way, belittling people who need handicap spaces says far more about you than it does me. Park at the back so my son can get fresh air? You are exactly the kind of person people imagine are answering the phones there. I may add your comment to my blog post.

One of my frustrations dealing with your company is that I don’t like to be nasty to the people on the front lines. I understand it’s not necessarily your fault. But that doesn’t make it okay for the company to continually make it difficult to get meds. Your attitude now makes me second guess giving the people on the phone benefit of the doubt.

  5. Okay…It took me a few moments to fully process your psychotic comments. You were so angry, I assumed you worked for Accredo. But clearly on rereading, you work for Caremark. So I gave props to my positive experience at your company, and you flip out. If you hate them so much, sounds like it’s time to send out the resume. And feel free not to belittle the handicapped in the future.
